2nd Round of Colds

I took them to the doctor on Friday because I was concerned about Chance. The past 2 weeks he hadn't been acting like himself, overly clingy, very fussy, always wanting to be held and waking up crazy early. They had no signs of ear infections but the motherly instincts kicked in and I was convinced something was going on with him. The doctor said Chance has a double ear infection and his gums are smoothing out meaning he will probably be getting a tooth within the week. Kinley has an ear infection in one ear and has a runny nose.They both started antibiotics, and the side effects are horrible!!!! I changed Kinley's diaper 3 times within an hour today... Despite being sick both have been so good. Playing with each other and enjoying their bouncers, which means I have 2 free hands....AMAZING!

Babies in sweatshirts are so adorable... but such a pain to get them off!
Chance might be having a tooth come within the week... hints the drool. I'am very excited!

Chance was loving Piggies so much that I had to record it.

I was finishing up hanging things in their room, and the buckets quickly became toys and hats! As you can tell Chance fills his out pretty well... Kinley not so much.

Watching their movies

Every now and again I put Kinley and Chance in front of the TV to watch Baby Einstein/Baby Mozart and Beethoven. It’s about 27 minutes long and it shows shapes, colors, music and toys. As soon as they hear the music they start kicking their legs and waving their arms. It’s great for me because I can get some stuff done while they are watching it. And it helps with their sitting. The Bumbo seat is a good exercise for them to build up their stomach and neck muscles. I try not to put them in front of the TV too much, but sometimes we all three just need a break!

We were just about to take a bath so Chance got to be helmet free the last couple minutes of their show. It made him a very happy boy!

Trying new things

The past week has been full of changes...

Both are loving their fruits and vegetables, they have it as their breakfest, lunch and dinner and drink about 4 bottles a day. They slept through the night 2 days in a row (7:30pm-5:45am) I got 6 hours of sleep!!! That hasn't happened since I was 6 months pregnant (big tummy,kicks on the ribs and of course the pee breaks every other hour)

Chance had a rough week and a half, getting the helmet, adjusting to new foods, and taking only 4 bottles. He has been glued to my hip. Kinley on the other hand has become slighlty more independent, loves to play and grab toys. She use to always be the one in my arms, but loves to play on her mat and try to eat her toes. It is so neat to watch them develop and explore.

We also tried the bouncer for the first time last week...Chance likes it on most days.He loves to stand up!

Doc Band

Last Friday Chance got his Doc Band on. I didn't know anything about it before I was told Chance will need one so I figured most people don't either... here is a little information explaing whats going on:

What is Plagiocephaly?
Plagiocephaly is easily explained as an oblique head shape, one side of the head becomes flattened. This occured to Chance because the muscles on one side of his neck were strained, causing him to always lay with one side of his head in the same direction.


How is it treated?
Plagiocephaly is treated with the help of a Doc Band, provided by Cranial Technologies. Chance had to have his head casted, which provided a perfect mold of his head shape. With this mold, he had his own Doc Band created. The band is made out of an outer plastic shell with a foam lining. It weighs about 6 oz. The band applies mild preasure to the prodominant areas, causing the flat areas to reform.Chance wears his "helmet" 23 hours a day. He get's an hour off each night at bath time. At that time, we wash off the band using rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush. He's adjusting to it pretty well, for the most part doesn't seem to notice it.
Eventually I'm going to decorate it! :)

Chance rolling over

Chance rolled over last Tuesday!!! I haven't had much free time this week to post anything so I didn't get to share our big news earlier. (sorry)He isn't the biggest fan of showing off his new skill but we are working on that. The first time he did it I didn't have my camera with me, and he had done it 2 or 3 times. I was very bummed out that I didnt tape it. After that I learned my lesson and have the camera with me at all times! Such a rookie mistake. I haven't got a chance to upload the video yet since it is on my camcorder but it will be on here soon.

Kinley rolling over

Kinley rolled over for the first time today! She is so light she just turned a little and went flying over... I about scared the day lights out of her from all my excitement and cheering.

Chance is growing into his very big personality, he is very funny and thinks he is funny so he usually makes himself laugh which makes me laugh and then makes Kinley laugh. They are full of the giggles and we have lots of fun during the day.
